Hua Hin Beach Run

Flat, scenic sand from the pier to Monkey Mountain

Hua Hin's main beach runs roughly 7 km from the fishing pier south to Khao Takiab (Monkey Mountain), and at low tide the firm sand makes a superb flat run or barefoot jog. At high tide long sections vanish under water, so check the tides first. Go at sunrise or after 5pm to dodge the midday heat, and carry water — there's little shade.

Khao Takiab (Monkey Mountain) Trail

Short sharp climb to sea views at the beach's south end

The temple headland at the south end of the beach has a road and steps to the summit plus shaded forest paths — a favourite for hill reps and trail running. The climb is short but steep and rewards you with panoramic Gulf views. Resident macaques can be pushy, so keep food out of sight; go early before the heat and the crowds.

Khao Hin Lek Fai Viewpoint Climb

The town's go-to hill for a lung-busting climb

'Flint hill' just west of town has a paved road to several viewpoints over Hua Hin and the sea. After a gentle first kilometre it ramps up steeply for about 1.5 km — the local runners' and cyclists' hill of choice. Partly shaded but still hot; go at dawn and bring water.

Pranburi Forest Park Boardwalk

Shaded mangrove boardwalk loop south of Hua Hin

This coastal mangrove reserve has elevated boardwalks and quiet lanes forming a flat, mostly shaded loop — calmer and cooler than the open beach thanks to the canopy, and rich in birdlife. About 25 km south near Pranburi beach; go early and watch for slippery boards after rain.

Khao Sam Roi Yot Trails

Limestone peaks, caves and wetlands for adventurous runners

Thailand's first coastal national park, 40–60 km south, has limestone hill trails, the famous Phraya Nakhon Cave climb, beaches and a huge freshwater marsh. Trails are rugged and steep rather than groomed running paths — best for trail runners and hikers. Start at first light, carry plenty of water, and note the park entry fee.

Hua Hin Hash House Harriers

Hua Hin's original hash, running since 2000

Founded in 2000, the Hua Hin Hash House Harriers follow a flour-marked trail on foot — run or walk — then gather for the traditional social circle. It's as much about the camaraderie and post-run refreshments as the exercise, and an easy way for newcomers and visitors to meet people. Trails and meeting points are posted online; a sister Cha-am hash runs too.
